Saqqara, contains the tombs of Egyptian royalty and high officials. It is also has a significant number of mummified animals, potentially containing the largest collections in Egypt. Estimates suggest that up to 70 million animal mummies were created across various sites in Egypt, with Saqqara being a key location due to its catacombs dedicated to animal burials.
During a recent 2023 excavation near Saqqara, a beautiful cat mummy was unearthed. It was well preserved and very intact. But more importantly, discovered right next to this, and of the same timeline, was a strange device. And made of advanced metals and composites, to a degree of precision and fabrication not to be seen for another 1500 years. Comparisons have been made to the Antikythera mechanism found off the coast of Greece and thought to be an advanced nautical navigation computer. Also, a relic out of time.
